New Accommodation

160 Tooley Street, London, SE1

From February 2009 the Council will be moving to new office accommodation to create a strategic and administrative centre for over 2,000 staff.

The move to Tooley Street is about creating efficiencies, being greener and fostering a more innovative approach to the way we work. The building itself is a mixture of modern and traditional. The facades have been retained so that the building blends with its surroundings. Behind which new offices have been built over five floors to offer an open plan environment with a variety of flexible workspaces.

The location has excellent public transport links; it is within a few minutes walk of rail and tube connections at London Bridge and many other routes are nearby. And our new accommodation provides excellent facilities for the cyclists too.

A key element of our approach to modernising the way we work has been the expansion of home working within the needs of the service. Modern ways of working principles have been developed for 160 Tooley Street and these will also apply to other offices wherever possible.

All staff will benefit from the move, even those who are not based there, as it will provide the council’s training hub and a touchdown centre when visiting the building.
