Personal Development
Continued investment in your learning and development means we improve service delivery and meet your career aspirations.
Flexible Working
We recognise that people work best when they have a satisfactory balance between their paid work and the remainder of their lives.
Job Satisfaction
Our most recent staff survey showed that job satisfaction has generally increased and that more of our employees considered Southwark to be a high performing Council.
Hours of Work
Our jobs are based upon a 36-hour week, and most are open to "job-sharing".
Salary
Your salary is reviewed every year and you may also receive an annual increment until you reach the maximum point of the grade.
New Offices
As part of our modernisation programme, a large number of staff are relocating to a new centre in Tooley Street, near to London Bridge.
Annual Leave
We offer a generous annual leave entitlement. This starts at 26 days plus Bank Holidays (or pro -rata) to reach the 28 days statutory entitlement, but can increase according to your grade and length of service.
With millions of extra visitors expected during the 2012 Olympics, the increased demand will affect some service areas. Contingency plans to meet these challenges may place restrictions upon annual leave. Therefore you must not assume that leave requests during this period will be approved.
Pension Scheme
The scheme is an important and valuable benefit and members receive an excellent package of pension benefits.
Environment
We are working to make Southwark a cleaner, greener and safer place to live and work.
Supportive Colleagues
Our latest staff survey indicated that our employees are most positive about friendly colleagues, and rated their managers as approachable, open and honest.
