Independent Chair- Southwark Safeguarding Children Partnership (SSCP) and Southwark Safeguarding Adults Board (SSAB)

£750 per day + reasonable expenses, up to 30 days per year.
Two-year contract with a mid-point review.

Following the implementation of the new multi-agency safeguarding arrangements in Southwark, we are looking to appoint to the crucial role of the independent chair. This role will play an important part in supporting the strategic work of the Board and that of the Safeguarding Partnership. The independent chair will provide scrutiny and ensure that the new arrangements make a real difference to the safety and wellbeing of children and adults at risk in Southwark.

As chair you will be accountable to the three statutory partners, ensuring that the SSCP and SSAB have an independent, objective and authoritative identity, and promoting the work of the SSCP and SSAB at strategic level by influencing interagency development. You will ensure that the SSCP and SSAB have a clear focus and priorities set out in their business plan, and that these are delivered.

You will have extensive experience in chairing strategic partnerships at an executive level, and a sound knowledge of strategic and operational safeguarding.

You must be educated to degree level or hold a relevant professional qualification of sufficient standing to command professional respect within the multi agency partnerships (or equivalent by work experience) with a clear vision, strong leadership skills and clearly demonstrable communication, mediation and negotiation skills, both with professionals and the public.
