The Adoption London South – Regional Adoption Agency

Adoption London South – the Adoption Services is a newly formed a partnership of 9 local authorities across the South West and South East of London.  Our aim is to build best practice across South London by providing a range of adoption services children, adoptive families, birth parents and adopted adults. We are looking for people to join us in building the service to improve outcomes in adoption.

Our service is hosted by Southwark and Merton, made up of 9 boroughs in total across the South East and South West region, namely, Lambeth; Croydon; Lewisham; Wandsworth; Sutton and Achieving for Children, delivering service on behalf of Richmond & Kingston.   Adopt London South works closely with all our partner councils and communities

Letterbox Officers x 2

We are looking for 2 x Letterbox Officers, to arrange children’s indirect support with birth families, and to process applications for funding through the Adoption Support Fund. The role includes organising service functions, record keeping, administrative tasks and other specific duties.  The post requires excellent skills in using Case Management systems and the ability to arrange contact for families/children affected by adoption.  The Letterbox Officer will work closely with the Letterbox Lead and the wider  adoption service.  This  involves accurate and confidential record keeping,  liaising with adoptive families and birth parents , undertaking reviews with Social Work teams and providing updates around any issues arising from Letterbox contact.  Key tasks are to maintain the contact service functions for the children, birth families and adopters in their contact arrangements, identifying needs and providing appropriate support and advice. This requires someone who has strong organisational skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with people of all backgrounds, including vulnerable birth parents.
